TORONTO – Get ready for the season’s most remarkable collection of dance sensuality captured by one of the city’s top visual artists.

You are invited to the release of 60 stunning images of the world’s finest Salsa dancers by internationally acclaimed artist and photographer Linda Kooluris Dobbs at Toronto’s Galleria 814 on July 7, 5 to 7 p.m.

In her new show Salsa, Eight on Eight Ms. Dobbs captures the sensuous rhythms of salsa artists in a fabulous new collection of images shot on-stage and off-stage over seven years of international competitions.

These images are the most intimate from my work,” Ms. Dobbs promises. “With these amazing dancers we are trying to capture that perfect moment in each performance when they become one with each other.

Intensely rhythmic and sensual, Salsa emerged from New York City in the 1970s and spread worldwide, with countries like Cuba, Puerto Rico, Columbia and Mexico each adding distinct variations to the performance.

Ms. Dobbs’s dancers represent the best of the world’s Salsa artists who have performed and competed since 2009 at the Canadian Salsa Congress and other venues.

Linda Kooluris Dobbs brings to her unique artistry the double disciplines of a dancer and internationally trained artist. After studying in the U.S., Canada and France, she has become internationally known for her photography and portrait art, with works found in private and corporate collections worldwide. As critics have noted, it is her distinct gift to capture the look of things as they appear when nobody is looking.

As a young dancer in my youth – taking up the love of dance from my mother – I learned to understand that unique combination of physicality, focus, art and discipline that goes into great dance performances,” she says. “In this collection I like to believe I am in the moment as the dancers, capturing the peak of the emotion they generate between them.

You are invited to attend the opening reception for this remarkable collection, which will include a special live Salsa performance from stars of the Canadian Salsa Congress.
